Legislation introduced by U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville, would eliminate the Presidential Election Campaign fund and transfer the money in it to the 10-Year Pediatric Research Initiative Fund. The current balance of the election campaign fund is $372.8 million. Davis said at a press conference Tuesday that this fund has not been used by a major presidential candidate since former Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain in 2008.
